How long does it take for an email address to be deleted?

I have changed email address due to unwanted sites sending emails to me. But would like to know when my old account will be terminated.How long does it take for an email address to be deleted?Depends where it was hosted. Some services with suspend it if inactive for say 3 months, while others will keep it there forever as it really costs nothing to them. Check your provider's terms of service.



For Yahoo! Mail here's an excerpt from their terms of service:

As you can see, you can either explicitly ask them to terminate the account or allow some undetermined time to pass until they will remove the account (e).
